Heart model in approximately 1.5 times natural size including thymus (thymus) and part of the descending aorta, trachea and esophagus. The model is cast in good plastic, is hand painted and comes on a base that shows part of the diaphragm and pericardium.

The heart can be opened completely with many detachable parts, which are held in place by magnets and can therefore be removed. In total, the model can be divided into 11 parts plus the base as the 12th part. The different colors on the heart model symbolize different tissues (fat, muscle and vessels, etc.)

There are no numbers on the model, but important anatomical structures are named and illustrated on the accompanying key card in English.

Anatomical features

Anatomically, the model shows the heart in its natural position on a base that partially illustrates the diaphragm and part of the pericardium. The heart clearly illustrates the 4 chambers, the auricles, the heart's blood supply (arteries and veins), the 4 valves based on the sac valve and mitral valve system, the beginning of the blood vessels that carry blood to and from the heart, as well as the structure of the heart consisting of 3 different layers (endo- , myo- and pericardium). The heart's impulse conduction system is not seen.

Clinical features

Clinically speaking, this model does not show anything pathological (disease-wise), but the model shows several structures in which diseases such as heart valve disease, atherosclerosis, blood clots and inflammation can occur.
