If you are looking for a complete model of the leg, where both the superficial and deep muscles are visible, we recommend this one.

In addition, tendons, vessels, nerves and bone components on the left leg and foot are illustrated with fine details.

The model is produced in 3/4 life size, weighs 3.8 kg and measures 77 x 26 x 26 cm (height x length x width). The model can be separated into 9 parts, as 8 of the superficial muscles are removable, whereby the deeper structures become visible. The model is delivered on a white removable stand.

Anatomical features

Anatomically, this model focuses on the skeletal muscle groups of the leg and foot. Therefore, the knee joint and the joint of the foot are shown in a very light degree of detail, and the joints are not movable.

As for vessels and nerves, only the largest structures are visible on the model. At the front of the model, the trigonum femorale with contents is illustrated, just as the fossa poplitea is seen on the back of the model.

8 parts from the leg's respective muscle groups are removable. The muscles in question are listed below, and it is also stated in brackets which muscle groups the individual muscles belong to.

M. sartorius, M. rectus femoris (both from the front muscle group of the thigh)
M. gluteus maximus (part of the gluteal muscles)
M. biceps femoris (caput longum), M. semimembranosus, M. semitendinosus (all from the rear muscle group of the thigh)
M. gastrocnemius (caput lateral and medial), M. soleus (both from the rear muscle group of the lower leg)
M. extensor digitorum longus (part of the front muscle group of the lower leg)

Clinical features

Clinically speaking, the model is ideal for understanding muscle and tendon-related disorders. The model can, for example, be used to understand muscle pain, muscle soreness, Achilles tendon rupture and tendinitis such as pes anserinus tendinitis.
