If you are looking for a model of the spine in a practical size, which shows both spinal nerves, the pelvis and the hip joint, we would highly recommend this model. It even includes a herniated disc in the lower back.

The model is reduced and measures only 40 cm in height. Therefore, it does not require so much space. It comes with a stand on which to hang it.

Anatomical features

Anatomically speaking, the model shows the entire vertebral column, which consists of a neck part, a chest part, a lumbar part, a pelvic part and the coccyx. Therefore, the model also shows the two most important joint types in the spinal column, which are the symphyses (disci/band disks) between the vertebral bodies and the facet joints, which are sliding joints between the vertebrae's pivots. The lower neck joint and the sacrococcygeal joint are also seen.

In addition, the model shows the pelvis in its entirety as a ring structure as well as both femoral heads with the femoral neck and part of the femur. Therefore, the model also shows the SI joint between the sacrum and the pubic bone, the symphysis between the pubic bones and the hip joint.

Furthermore, the model shows the 31 pairs of spinal nerves and a herniated disc in the lower back. Overall, the bone quality is very good, and therefore, for example, knots and depressions in the bone tissue can be seen very clearly.

Product flexibility

In terms of movement, this model is assembled on a flexible metal stick, so that the model can be used to demonstrate the movements of the spine. Although it is not visible in the pictures on the left, elastics are fitted in the hip joints. Therefore, different movements of the hip joint, such as abduction and rotation, can be demonstrated.

Clinical features

Clinically, this model is ideal for understanding disc herniation and root involvement. It can also be used to understand disorders such as back pain, scoliosis, spondylosis, spinal stenosis and osteoarthritis.

The model can of course also be used to understand fractures (breaks) and many different disorders related to the hip joint and the pelvis.

Back problems affect many people. This model of the spine can be useful both clinically and as an inspiration on the table of any practitioner who works with the back.
