This joint model shows the knee joint in natural size and associated ligaments.

It is produced in SOMSO plastic by the manufacturer SOMSO, which is world-renowned for very high quality, which means quality materials, sense of accuracy and long life.

The model weighs 1 kg and the dimensions are 18 x 18 x 34 cm (length x width x height). Supplied on a removable stand. As something quite special, a tube of silicone is included for lubricating the joint.

Anatomical features

Anatomically, the knee model shows part of the thigh bone (femur), part of the shin bone (tibia), part of the calf bone (fibula), the kneecap (patella) and both menisci in the knee joint. The bone structure is extremely realistic, and therefore important "osseous landmarks" such as knots and depressions are seen very clearly.

Wha. rubber, the model also shows many of the ligaments that belong to the knee joint.

You see the following:

Corpse. collaterale tibiale (medial lateral ligaments), equal. collaterale fibulare (lateral side ligaments), equal. cruciatum posterius (posterior cruciate ligament), equal. cruciatum anterius (anterior cruciate ligament),

body. meniscofemorale posterius as well as a bit of the quadriceps tendon with the embedding of the patella and the continuation "below" like a corpse. patellae attached to the tibia.

It should be added that some of our customers have made us aware of extremely realistic details such as the special design of the menisci and the smooth design of the joint surfaces.

Product flexibility

In terms of movement, the joint model is extremely flexible and is therefore ideal for demonstrating movements such as flexion and rotation.

In addition, the quadriceps tendon can be loosened and lifted off so that the interior of the knee joint with cruciate ligaments and menisci can be studied in detail.

Clinical features

Clinically, the model is ideal for understanding ligament injuries (especially injuries to the cruciate ligaments and collateral ligaments), meniscal lesions, mice, patellar luxation (joint slip in the kneecap), patellar fractures and proximal knee joint fractures.

The model can perhaps also be used to understand disorders such as osteoarthritis of the knee (knee osteoarthritis), rheumatoid arthritis (rheumatoid arthritis) and runner's and swimmer's knee.
