Particularly flexible hip model with ligaments
Particularly flexible hip model with ligaments
Anatomical features
Anatomical features
Anatomically, the model shows the iliac bone, ischium, pubic bone and the femoral head with the femoral neck and part of the femur. Wha. rubber, the model also shows the ligaments that belong to the hip joint. Furthermore, the manufacturer has used the same type of rubber (and in the same colour) to illustrate the labrum in the joint socket (can be seen in the pictures on the left).
Product flexibility
Product flexibility
In terms of movement, the joint model is extremely flexible and is therefore ideal for demonstrating movements such as abduction and rotation. Some will think that the ligaments do not look realistic. This is because they are cast individually. On the other hand, it makes it possible to carefully pull the head of the femur out of the socket a little (but not more than cm).
Clinical features
Clinical features
Clinically speaking, the model is ideal for understanding hip fractures and external sprains. Considering that the head of the femur can be slightly pulled out of the joint socket, the model can possibly also be used to understand luxation (joint slip), osteoarthritis (wear-and-tear) and intra-articular sprained hip.
