This hip model shows both the hip joint with ligaments, relevant muscles and the sciatic nerve.

The model is supplied on a removable stand and an information card with a picture of the model is included, where the anatomical structures of the model are named in English.

Anatomical features

Anatomically, the model shows the iliac bone, ischium, pubic bone and the femoral head with the femoral neck and part of the femur. The model also shows the ligaments that belong to the hip joint. Furthermore, it shows the 4th and 5th lumbar vertebra, a bit of the spinal cord and nerves that originate in this region - including the sciatic nerve.

In addition, the following muscles are seen:

M. iliacus, a little of m. psoas major, m. piriformis, m. gemellus superior, m. obturatorius internus, m. gemellus inferior, m. gluteus minimus and parts of m. gluteus medius.

Product flexibility

In terms of movement, the joint model is not flexible and therefore cannot be used to demonstrate the various movements in the hip joint. Muscles and nerves cannot be removed either.

Clinical features

Clinically speaking, the model is ideal for understanding spinal stenosis, spondylosis, lumbar root affections and the piriformis syndrome. The model can also be used to understand disorders such as internal and external hip hops.
