The model weighs 22.2 kg and measures 60 x 46 x 46 cm. Compared to a real human cell, the model is enlarged 40,000 times. The cell's components are enclosed in glass, and the whole thing is mounted on a metal stand. "Glascellen" has received several awards - including "World Didac Gold Award 1990".

Anatomical features

Anatomically, the model shows organelles in an undifferentiated human cell. The organelles are surrounded by glass, which symbolizes the cell membrane (incl. microvilli). In the cell you can see, for example:
