If you are looking for a model of the lower back that shows both spinal nerves and muscles, this is ideal.

It also includes the pelvis.

The model's dimensions are 39 x 26 x 21 cm and weighs 1.5 kg. Despite the model's lack of mobility, the SI joint is flexible, as the hip bone and sacrum are held together by an elastic band. The model is delivered on a removable stand.

Anatomical features

Anatomically, the model shows the 5 lumbar vertebrae in the lower back. Therefore, the model shows the two most important joint types in the spinal column, which are the symphyses (disci/band discs) between the vertebral bodies and the facet joints, which are sliding joints between the vertebrae's pivots.

The model also shows the pelvis in its entirety as a ring structure. Therefore, the model shows the SI joint between the sacrum and the pubic bone as well as the symphysis between the pubic bones. Overall, the bone quality is good, which is why, for example, larger protrusions are seen in the bone tissue.

As for nerves, the model shows the lumbar, sacral and coccygeal spinal nerves. Furthermore, the model reproduces important skeletal muscles in the lumbar region. You see, among other things, etc. intertransversarii, etc. interspinales, m. transversospinalis and m. erector spinae.

Product flexibility

In terms of movement, this model is not flexible. You can make a very weak movement in the lumbar vertebrae, which is not sufficient to demonstrate movement in the lower back. Due to the elastics between the hip bone and the sacrum, you can make a greater movement in the SI joint.

Clinical features

Clinically, this model is ideal for understanding root affection, back pain, spondylosis, spinal stenosis and osteoarthritis. It can also be used to understand herniated discs, scoliosis, fractures (breaks) and various disorders related to the pelvis.
